THE OPPORTUNITY 


At Lifebridge Christian Church, our vision is simple: Becoming Like Jesus. We are seeking a called, passionate Senior Minister who shares that vision and is ready to lead a warm, close-knit congregation toward that goal.

 

Founded in 1972, Lifebridge has a strong history of pastoral stability and long-term ministry relationships. Our congregation of approximately 50 members is an intimate, mission-minded community with significant potential for growth. We worship with a blended style — both contemporary and traditional — and feature instrumental music, a hallmark of our Independent Christian Church heritage.

 

The Senior Minister will join a team that includes a music minister and an administrative assistant, and will serve under the oversight of a committed eldership and leadership team.

 

 

ABOUT DECATUR, ALABAMA


Decatur is a growing, welcoming city located along the scenic banks of the Tennessee River in North Alabama, approximately 20 miles from Huntsville — now the largest and most rapidly growing city in the state. The region offers a compelling combination of:

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS


 The ideal candidate will be:

 

  • A person of character above reproach who bears the fruit of the Spirit in daily life
  • Deeply compassionate, trustworthy, reliable, and self-controlled
  • Community and missions minded, with a heart for local and global outreach
  • A self-motivated, outstanding leader and manager of staff, leadership, and congregation
  • Experienced in the Independent Christian Church, with 3 or more years of ministry
  • A graduate of an Independent Christian Church-affiliated or Restoration Movement college (preferred)
  • Possessing a proven track record of spiritual growth and ministry development

 

 

MINISTERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


 

  • Preach clear, Bible-based Sunday morning sermons that inspire and provide application to daily life.
  • Serve under the oversight of the eldership and the Leadership Team.
  • Lead the church's discipleship efforts, providing training and development on a periodic basis.
  • Participate in and support small groups; supply teaching materials and recruit, train, and develop qualified group leaders.
  • Lead and coordinate church staff in support of the church's mission and vision.
  • Represent Lifebridge at community events and foster relationships beyond the church walls.
  • Provide pastoral care, including counseling, spiritual guidance, baptisms, hospital visits, weddings, and funerals.
  • Champion local, regional, and global mission work and evangelism, and encourage broad congregational participation.

 

 

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES


 

  • Lead Sunday morning and special services in coordination with the music minister.
  • Recruit, train, and provide ongoing development for qualified ministry team leaders.
  • Teach adult classes as needed and support youth ministry in collaboration with available leadership.
  • Support church camp and related activities as directed by the elders.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the church in coordination with staff and elders.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews of staff members in conjunction with the elders.

 

 

REPORTING & ACCOUNTABILITY


 

  • Report directly to the eldership for overall ministry direction.
  • Meet regularly with the leadership team to coordinate, plan, and evaluate ministries and activities.

 

 

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS


 

  • This is a full-time role, requiring approximately 40 hours per week including Sunday services, with regular availability in the office for pastoral and administrative duties.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and personal integrity, grounded in biblical principles.
  • Communicate proactively with leadership regarding any absence due to illness, emergency, or other reasons.
  • Be faithfully present at regular church services and special events.
  • Abide by church policies established by the elders, including those related to technology and the use of church property and funds.

 

 

COMPENSATION


 

Compensation is commensurate with experience. Lifebridge provides a housing allowance as part of the compensation package, which may offer meaningful tax benefits. Relocation assistance is also available for the right candidate. Additional details will be discussed with qualified applicants during the interview process.
